tBBC Film Room: How to harness a QB's power

We're back in the film room this week and we take it under center to examine QB play.

It's a common misconception to place the emphasis on a QB's arm strength.  It's his legs and hips that provide the accuracy and the power to make the throw.

"Consistency is the hallmark of excellence" and until a quarterback can consistently repeat his successes, in my book they're just average.

A good coach once told me that 'potential' is a french word for "you aren't sh!t yet,"  in your 3rd year you better prove it!

Good take on the "arm strength" issue and

how to acquire it, Rob. It’s the same fundamental in throwing a baseball or swinging a golf club. Solid base and hip alignment, weight transfer and torso rotation. It sort of begins at the ground up.

Thanks Ken

It’s one of those rarely talked about aspects, all we hear about is “arm strength, arm strength, arm strength.” There’s a ton of mechanics that go into getting that ball down the field. Golf swings were the perfect analogy by you, and the toughest part is being able to replicate that swing time after time.

You

and Elin Woods both…

Of course the conversation degenerated...
You were having it with a bunch of degenerates.

Yeah, pretty much the same thing. I think she may have done a better job following Rob’s fundamentals to generate a lot more club head speed, though.
