tBBC Film Room: Linebacker School

It's week 3 in the film room, and we're taking it to the linebacker level today.  Often times people confuse fundamentals and technique for "football IQ."

Every movement in football has a technique associated with it, so it's proper teaching that allows a defender to decide whether to jump a route or sink back in his zone.

I like to think of defense as an orchestra, you better not get caught playing out of tune or "Beethoven's 5th" just won't sound the same.

Amazing work...

Great feature, Rob.

It must be because I have a 2 year old that I keep expecting Ovejita and Murray to show up.

That would make Linebacker School AMAZING…

Of course the conversation degenerated...
You were having it with a bunch of degenerates.

This actually raises a question

Granted I don’t know what down it is, and I recognize that the quarterback is a freshman.

Why wouldn’t the coaches teach the QB to play-fake a pass to the deep crosser (keep eyes on him, maybe a pump fake) and then dump the pass to the short crosser for guaranteed yardage? It seems like if this is fundamental linebacker play, you would then take advantage of the shorter yardage that the defense seems willing to yield by focusing on the deep crosser.

Why would you ever want to run the prevent defense? It's a defense specifically designed to prevent the field goal by giving them a touchdown!

Eric, that is one of the best tag lines I've ever seen..

“Granted I don’t know what down it is”. That’s even better than “I can’t find my ass with both hands.” I think you just created a classic
