This is it. Today is the day that high school football players across the country fax in their letters of intent and lock in the college that they will be attending.
Some of these players will become stars, others will get lost in the college shuffle and never see the field (as so many college students, athletes or otherwise, tend to do).
Who will be a star and who will be a bust? No one knows, but for now, everyone is a future star, which is why today is so exciting for many fans.
There are several major story lines that are worth tracking today. Will James Louis be a Buckeye? Is Matt James heading to South Bend or Columbus? What will LaTwan Anderson and Morgan Moses do?
The question on most minds will be where Seantrel Henderson will go. He is set to announce on CBS at 5:30 E.T.
Until then, we will be updating all day as each letter of intent is faxed in with some brief analysis (with much, much more analysis to come later). If you're interested in the "liveblog" thingy, our friend Ian at Inside the Shoe would appreciate the blessing of your company.
SB Nation has also put together a page to track all of the action today, Ohio State or otherwise, so check that out if you like.
Remember, no one expects you to get any work done today, so have at it.

I see where Jim is up & at 'em this morning,
well done, sir. I’ve got a business meeting scheduled for late morning, fortunately one of the other participants is an avid Nebraska fan, so you know it will be a short meeting and that we’ll be packing it in early. No doubt, I’ll stop in to see Ian this afternoon. Should be a fun day.
Dress code is ‘business casual’, so I’ll be sporting the Sweater Vest look.

Word is he won’t sign until 5ish. He’s still on the fence. I like our chances. When Tress met with Seantrel’s parents, he made sure to mention it would be easier for them to travel to Columbus to watch him, than to Cali. I’m sure that had some impact on the decision. You never know.

i said this over at 11 warriors, but...
i don’t understand all the PANIC! seriously, some idiot journalist in minnesota decided to write an article saying that usc was the new leader for henderson’s services. he cited absolutely no facts, no references. he didn’t directly talk to henderson, his parents, or anyone close to the situation. he didn’t get the tip from a reliable source. he, for some reason, decided to write the referenceless article for fun.
i don’t feel any worse or better about getting henderson then i did when everyone was projecting he’d end up a buckeye. i figure it’s 50 – 50.

USC has money to make this work, and Kiffen has no morals. My guess is this reporter planted this story with some “encouragement” from elsewhere. Obviously Kiffen can recruit, and that they’ve used this reporter to create some space for themselves, is a sign they’ve been working on Henderson. If Henderson and his parents are into easy money and don’t care about consequences and sanctions, they’ll take USC, if they want to be a part of something lasting that the fans and family, can ALWAYS be proud of, a place where your word has meaning, where championships last the test of time, we know where he’ll choose. O-H….

people forget that Mike Adams came in with almost the same hype as Henderson has, how quickly people forget/write people off, if he can turn it on we will still have a premier left tackle, at the very least a serviceable tackle on an offense filled with studs

to keep tabs on the Michigan and MSU LOI signees, but scout.com is failing miserably. Rivals is reporting that Michigan has only had 7 players sign their LOI’s so far: 1 4 Star (QB Devin Gardner) and 6 3 stars: 3 WR’s, 2 RB’s and an OL.

Those are their list of enrollees, their list of signees is much longer. However, it’s a long list of 3 stars with five 4 stars mixed in. I’m sure we all know how good the 3 stars can turn out, but I imagine that Michigan fans are still expecting better from their most-spectacular-coach-ever.

looks like they might be competitive in a couple years. They’ve picked up 5-star William Gholston (of course), but have also added 4-stars QB Joe Boisture (6-6, 202), LB Max Bullough, DB Isiah Lewis, and OL Skyler Schofner to fill out a pretty solid class of recruits.

while this class lacks a national name, I think it is a fine class, the only thing concerning at this point is offensive line depth… other than that I don’t see anywhere that is worth worrying about, much less being depressed over

another thing to consider is the effect of committing early
guys like Roderick Smith, Andrew Norwell, and Jamel Turner would all be HUGE gets on signing day and everyone would be freaking out right now about it, they were all considered potential five starts early on, but they chose to commit early, and then they were forgotten about, by fans and by the sites that rank players
it’s funny how players who commit early drop in the rankings, it’s also as if the system is designed to build hype around uncommitted players to sell subscriptions… funny how that works
an example of this is LaTwan Anderson, great player who everyone assumed would be a Buckeye, then he chose West Virginia, then he re-opened his recruitment, after that he was bumped up to the number 1 player in Ohio and a 5 star, like I said, funny how that works

another thing to consider is how heavily weighted the recruiting rankings are on the number of players in the class, Ohio State has 18 at this point, a lot of other schools ranked higher than Ohio State have 25 or more

O-Line depth.
We’re pretty strapped on the O-line for the next 2-4 yrs. I believe. Shugarts, Adams & Brewster are true Jr.‘s this year, Hall is a true Soph., & we redshirted Longo, Linsley & Mewhort last year. We have Connor Smith, E. Blankenship, Z. Slagle, & S.Sika BURIED on the bench with J. Boren, A. Miller & B. Browning all Sr.s with extensive playing time. Add to that, we just brought in a stud OT (Andrew Norwell) who is going to redshirt more than likely because he is coming off a broken ankle, AND, we don’t need him to rush or play right now, so I come to this conclusion: We’re in GREAT shape! And I believe the sweater vest LET a lot of the 2010 class get out of Ohio because the 2011 OHIO kids are really special!!!!!!! O-H…….I-O!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thankful for what we have!
No Seantrel, Jordan, LaTwan, or Matt James on board after the official signing period was over, but so what! One year of not getting the so called elite of this class is nothing. I can look at all the “3 star” players who were Buckeyes & see 1st rd. NFL draft picks doing well in the league, and remember those same “3 star” players never lost to that team up North & kept us in the running for the National Title yr. in & yr. out. So let’s show the love for the kids coming to Columbus, not make them feel inadequate because of whining over who didn’t come! Most, if not all of those we"missed" on were headed for red shirts anyway, we got it like that! So, if any of the kids read this that came to Thee Ohio State University, I would like to thank you & tell you to enjoy the ride! Work hard on & off the field, and understand that every year you play in Columbus, there is a National Title on the horizon for you! O-H-I-O!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
