Anthony Schlegel back at Ohio State

Written January 24th, 2011 by Jim

Guess who's back...

According to reports, Anthony Schlegel has been hired by Ohio State as the newest assistant strength coach.

You may remember Schlegel from his days anchoring the middle of the best trio of linebackers in recent memory, or perhaps you remember him for his boar hunting skills.

Either way, after bouncing around in the NFL and UFL for several seasons, Schlegel is back in the WHAC as a strength coach. You can read about his training philosophies here.

Oh, and hunting wild boars with a knife > owning wolves as pets.

Congratulations Mr. Schlegel and welcome back to Columbus! Video goodness after the jump…

    Whoo!!! Van Hagar soundtrack!!

So, let me get this right- we had so much fun killing hogs in the Big Easy that we hired a coach who does it full time?

    Well played, Vest.

Schlegel has more manliness in his pinky than most men have in their entire bodies. This is a good trait in a strength coach.

Apparently he is already hoarse from yelling so much after one day. He’s trying to motivate everyone to “dominate”. Sounds good to me.

Jim, that’s a good sign. We need that General Patton type that we lost with Dantonio. He can be the yang to Tressel’s yin.

Anthony trained my son for two years after he left Cinci.
He is a natural at working with young men and getting the most out of them. They have to want it, though, as David would generally throw up once or twice during the workouts.
Anthony is extremely knowledgeable in strength and conditioning as it relates to football, as opposed to body building.
They did all kinds of torturous exercises in the weight room, and it continued on the field with running and agilities.
David would not be at Kansas State right now if it were not for Anthony Schlegel. He prepared him mentally and physically for what was to come. The college transition was much easier as a result. Anthony also sets a great example as a Christian man. He doesn’t just talk it he walks it.
Any of the kids that embrace his training and his wisdom will benefit immensely. His enthusiasm is contageous. He really loves the kids.
