Urban Meyer Is A Buckeye… Almost

Written November 22nd, 2011 by MaliBuckeye

Soon...

According to people we trust, Urban Meyer has reached an agreement to be the next head football coach at The Ohio State University, and is working on creating a staff.

It’s quite possible that this will be formalized early next week (some say that the University might not need to post a position if the position is scheduled to be open, and Coach Fickell’s contract has an end date), with an official announcement soon to follow.

Again, nothing from the University, which makes sense given what week it is, but still… another reason to rejoice over Thursday’s generous portions of turkey and sweet potato pie.

FOX Sports just said a few minutes ago Urban has agreed to 40 mill and 7 yr. contract and is bringing two florida assistants with him DJ Durkin as D Coordinator and keeping Fickell as Assistant head coach… is it true.

That’s the same thing we have heard as well (along with Studwara at OC, Drayton at RB, and Zach Smith WR)… as to whether it’s actually true or not, we’ll all just have to wait until things are officially announced. The good news is that announcement should be soon… within the next week or two soon.

There is also speculation that if the Buckeyes go bowling, Meyer will be running bowl practices.

We have heard similar things, but until it comes from the mouth of an OSU admin or Urban Meyer himself I would remain optimistic but skeptical.

Incidentally, here’s the fox sports report.

The secret to making a rumor you start more believable: add some details such as a dollar amount or the names of assistant coaches.
