Joey O’Connor Is A Buckeye!

Written January 17th, 2012 by MaliBuckeye

Means Business

After this weekend’s big news that Taylor Decker had bolstered the Ohio State line with a verbal commitment, today we hear that Colorado standout Joey O’Connor has done the same and is a part of the Ohio State 2012 class.

A former Penn State commitment (sound familiar?), O’Connor checks in at 6’4″ and 285 pounds. The Windsor Colorado student is projected at an interior spot for Ohio State, although there might be a move to tackle in his future.

In addition to the Lions and Buckeyes, O’Connor held offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Iowa, Tennessee, and South Carolina, among others. His video shows tenacity and a bit of a “nasty” streak- think Justin Boren. Check it out after the jump.

Welcome to the Buckeye Family, Joey!!

Another nice pick up with O’Connor. Are any other teams taking recruits away from Penn State? I hate to think all their recruits are decommiting for Ohio State. Could start to sound like “rape” No pun intended with Jerry Sandusky’s improprieties. I know another man’s loss is another man’s gain but this is beyond expectation. Penn State could lose to Appalachian State if they are on their schedule.

I expect their top two remaining recruits,Camren Williams (LB) & Armani Reeves (CB) to both flip and commit to the Scarlet & Gray by this weekend!

Urban Meyer is the flip man. Getting players to flip from another school to OSU. I say we need linebackers more than anything. It used to be the strongest part of our defense. Now the weakest.

I wish he would’ve stayed in the Pac-12, but with Meyer coming in I understand! G’Luck from Matt in CO. Someday I hope CU is back in the mix with top talent like this.

PS – Joey, that squat needs major improvement. Don’t look up and get down in that squat boy. Much fewer pancakes from here on out!

Well, this might mean that you get to see him play on TV more often than if he would have gone to CU…
