Taylor Decker is a Buckeye!

Hello, Mr. Decker

Ohio offensive tackle Taylor Decker has decided to become the 20th member of Ohio State’s 2012 recruiting class, filling a major position of need on the team in the coming years.

Decker had been committed to Notre Dame since March of ’11, making this somewhat of a surprise.

However, Decker’s decision to officially visit Columbus came shortly after his position coach (Ed Warinner) and primary recruiter (Tim Hinton) at Notre Dame were announced as the final members of Urban Meyer’s offensive coaching staff. The relationship he established with his coaches was clearly important and the driving factor in his decision to be a Buckeye.

At 6’8″ and 300 lbs. (give or take) Decker has prototypical size for a tackle. His athleticism on the basketball court (where he also excels) is an indication that he has the footwork necessary to pass block on the edge. All of these things mean that he likely projects at LT- and that is a very, very good thing for the Buckeyes.

Highlights after the jump.

Welcome to the Ohio State Family, Taylor!!

F-U Urban Meyer, I never want you at ND, you are a dirty m-f’er. Taylor Decker you are making a huge mistake!!! I bet Urban had the same car dealership in the room as he was talking to you that sold Pryor cars.

Luckily for you I think Meyer will be in Columbus and not South Bend for the next few years. Also, Meyer found a much nicer car dealership than Tressel used (and therefore not the same one that sold Pryor cars).

I love it when a fan of a has-been university, gets on another teams website trolling and commenting. Get a life…and BTW…get used to players and good coaches leaving ND for better universities and coaches. Your team hasn’t been good since a good man named Lou was pushed out (oh did I mention that coach was from Ohio too). Good luck Irish fan…bc your team always has been and will remain WAY behind OSU in every facet of the game. GO BUCKS! Keep good Ohio players in O-H-I-O!

Granted not rubbing it in goes back twenty years with Notre Dame, but that is even more reason not to do it.

Cry cry cry… Maybe you can find some in state talent for once. Oh wait…. It doesn’t exist, and if it does, it goes to LSU.

Amazing! Never have seen this late momentum in OSU recruiting. Urban’s going to pass Hoke’s balyhooed class. Wolvies gnashing their teeth right now! As for the poor Irish, they can forget about getting a decent recruit out of Ohio for the foreseeable future.

No gnashing of teeth from the “Wolvies”. This was a good pick up, but to think UofM is gnashing their teeth is crazy. 4 of the commits Meyer has picked up were soft commits to other schools with half being from Ohio anyhow. the only reason he is looking like Wonder Boy right now is because the class was average at best in the big ten. It is now where is should be.

I usually go to other team’s websites to tell them how unworried I am about their team, too.

Apparently you’ve just arrived here on Earth from some other planet. We’ve been picking up top national recruits since Meyers has come to Ohio State.

    Just stating the facts

Pittman – lifelong OSU fan who just needed a “non intern” coach to commit to (not Meyer Magic)
Washington – committed prior to Meyer (no Meyer Magic)
Schutt – Passed on by both ND and UofM and committed to Penn State. Penn State turned into a tire fire and he ran to Columbus (no Meyer Magic)
Decker – In State kid who’s coaches just went to OSU (no Meyer Magic)
Dunn – Was always committed to OSU and is a Ohio native who grew up rooting for OSU – needed stability to reaffirm his commitment (Magic? I guess?)
Noah Spence – great pick up
I am sure i missed someone Meyer charmed over?

Thank you for clearing that up for us.

Once again, I appreciate you making the long journey over to our corner of the internet to let us know how unconcerned you are about our recruiting success, coach and team.

It’s all Meyer Magic as these guys could have gone elsewhere but chose Ohio State with it’s “tattoogate” problems because of Urban Meyers. You have a grudge and just want to grind an ax. Goofballs like you come out of the wood work if someone else is having success. Your mindset is” “If good things can’t happen to me…then I hate the guy who did find success” That’s sad. Tebow beat Ohio State for the National Championship but I couldn’t be happier that he is the success that he has become.

Another nice pick up for Meyer. When you bring in a great coaching staff the recruits will follow.

Andy and Stan…you both need to grow up and start acting a bit more mature than writing obscenities on an Ohio State website.

These players now see a credible head coach with two national championships from the media-biased SEC “super conference” and on defense when Mike Varbal shows up in the livingroom of Rivals.com 5-star players they see a guy with three Super Bowl rings who tells them that they will show them how to develop into NFL players – and OSU in the past 7 years has put more players into the NFL than any other NCAA program for more credibility……You don’t need “magic” for that sell.
