Who will be our new #12? Who knows what will happen with the NCAA...either expulsion or suspension for the 2012 post season or nothing. That interview makes me think they are going to severely punish Penn State. The Big Ten has far too high of standards for this sort of thing. I can't imagine they'll be allowed to stay in the conference, considering the length and number of people involved. A shame, as I always thought very highly of the school, and considered it for grad. Plus I was hoping they would once again become a staple of power in the Big Ten, dominating bowl games, after getting a coach that plays 21st century football, rather than 1970s football.

Yikes indeed. I hadn't heard about that, but there's certainly some hurt coming PSU's way.

I read a comment somewhere from someone who claimed to have once been well-studied in the NCAA rulebook. He believed there were no NCAA rules regarding this, and that the NCAA would therefore be unable to punish PSU.

Unfortunately he's not well read on the NCAA constitution, which requires that member schools behave "in a manner reflecting the highest principles of higher education" (the wording is not exact). Long story short, the NCAA has more than enough public documentation to make their feelings felt quite harshly.

Getting hit by the NCAA, the Big Ten, and the AAU is probably going to feel like the apocalypse for Penn State.

Did you see the article about circumstances surroinding a BOT initiative to strengthen oversight of PSU and how Spanier almost single handedly caused it to fail?:

I know it is the evil empire, but that report is pretty damning in my mind for both criminal charges against Spanier and also for the NC2A.
