That was pretty bizarre. Wisconsin's offensive set seemed to be (mainly) four players spaced around the arc, relying on passing/screens/weaves to free a 3-pt attempt. Maybe try to spring someone loose on a backdoor cut. Very passive approach, IMO. Good point that OSU played aggressive, sound defense and didn't give too many points away.

Time for my beefing on offensive rebounding, or lack thereof. Since neither team got many OR's, it was kind of a wash, I guess.

I was thinking about the free throw thing a bit more this morning. It is amazing that this is the first time in Badger Basketball history that they have ever failed to even attempt a free throw (I word it that way for a reason).

Wisconsin attempted 53.8% of their shots from beyond the arc. More than half of their total attempts were from three. That's unbelievable - and one clear indication why they failed to reach the line. Fouling a shooter at the three is considered to be the result of a braindead decision - not something a good team does. Therefore, you're not going to reach the foul line very frequently taking those kinds of shots.

Add to this the fact that it is well known that Matta coaches his players to play solid, aggressive defense without fouling. What few attempts Wisconsin even bothered to work for inside weren't enough to push them into the bonus, nor was it sufficient to actually cause a shooting foul.

All that said, I'd be fine if the Wisconsin fans want to complain about the missed Ravs out-of-bounds when he saved the ball late in the game. That was a legitimate missed call.

The 1st half was pretty hard on the sensibilities, fortunately the Bucks were only down two at the half.

Good point, Eric, about OSU staying 'with it' during the game; actually playing against Wisconsin may be just as maddening as watching the game.

Now, let's go for four wins in a row this Saturday @ Nebraska!
