It's time to celebrate Columbus!

Congratulations to the Ohio State Buckeyes, the only remaining undefeated team, and the team that we have unanimously chosen to be our National Champions for the 2012-2013 Football Season!

The Buckeyes improved all season long and completed their season on November 24th with a 26-21 victory over rival Michigan. Former #1 Notre Dame, the only other undefeated team following the regular season, lost in dramatic fashion by a score of 42-14 to the Alabama Crimson Tide in their bowl game tonight.

College Football has a storied tradition of not having an NCAA sanctioned official national championship. This has resulted in teams claiming national championships every single time any two-bit publication declared them to be the champion. Alabama, as it turns out, may be the worst offender in that regard, claiming as many as 13 national championships. That includes 1961, where they claim a unanimous championship, despite the fact that Ohio State also claims a Championship in 1961!

So, here you are ‘Bama. We’re gonna play your game. Let the debates begin, but I claim the Buckeyes are better than you simply because Ohio State didn’t lose a football game. Period.

Our official, and totally meaningful, Top 25 appears below the break.

1. Ohio State (12-0)
2. Alabama (13-1)
3. Notre Dame (12-1)
4. Oregon (12-1)
5. Stanford (12-2)
6. Georgia (12-2)
7. Kansas State (11-2)
8. Texas A&M (11-2)
9. Florida (11-2)
10. Louisville (11-2)
11. Clemson (11-2)
12. Florida State (12-2)
13. South Carolina (11-2)
14. LSU (10-3)
15. Oklahoma (10-3)
16. Boise State (11-2)
17. Utah State (11-2)
18. Northwestern (10-3)
19. Oregon State (9-4)
20. Northern Illinois (12-2)
21. Texas (9-4)
22. San Jose St (11-2)
23. Nebraska (10-4)
24. Baylor (8-5)
25. Penn State (8-4)

Again, congratulations to this year’s National Champions. Best of luck with your repeat title attempt next season!

And by the way Notre Dame: We could have given Alabama a better challenge tonight, and we didn’t have a Heisman Trophy candidate Linebacker.

I’d like to congratulate the Ohio State Buckeyes for their undefeated and championship season, as well. Actually, the 12-0 record for the lads from Columbus mean they have been undefeated in two of the last three seasons!

And a tip of the houndstooth hat to the Crimson Tide for their unabashed consistency. Not only have they elevated oversigning to an art form, they’ve expanded the concept into overclaiming national championships. Well done!

And a special note to Mante Te’o; ‘Bama’s center (Jones) put a better lick on McCarron than you did tonight.

Now we just need to give the boys championship rings so that they can trade them for some championship tattoos. Oh, what could have been…

Yup… another problem with the NCAA; the people who end up being punished often aren’t the people who made the stupid decisions.

    Like Gene Smith, for instance…

Where do I buy the national championship gear?

Now that….that is an amazingly good question. Let me get back to you on that.

You guys crack me up. You have a team that consistently plays the weakest non-conference schedule in the nation and always gets blown out in bowl games (note your 9-11 record in your last 20), I will give you the national championship nod for having the most hype for a team that everyone outside of the Midwest is tired of watching get blown out when playing bowl games…..41-14 the last time your over-rated program had the opportunity to back up your mouths with results on the field. Bama would have wiped you off the field.

Realtime RPI has OSU rated #15. your SOS is a joke. Ohio University????? UA Birmingham that you barely beat??? Indiana by a field goal??? That’s a “special” season alright!!! You have a losing bowl record all-time. Wake up and look in the mirror. You won’t recognize the ugly that everyone outside of the Midwest recognizes.

Ummm… Ohio University is the team that beat Penn State. Not on OSU’s schedule this year… feel free to find someone to read to you.

And Ohio U beating Penn State would mean something if Penn State was even relevant. But I get your message about taking them off your schedule. Too risky for you. Maybe replace them with powerhouse Toledo or Akron?

Again, because apparently you missed it the first time.

Identify your favorite program, and we’ll help you cope with your cupcakes. South Carolina State, perhaps?

I don’t have a “favorite program”. Unlike you, I’m a college graduate. TAMU; #5 BCS and RPI. OSU is #15 RPI. You had the #116 SOS and A&M #7. You could blame that on your weak conference but adding a 4-8 Buffalo and a 4-7 Florida A&M to your schedule just tells people you can’t compete, as does your 20-23 overall bowl record. Keep drinking the Kool Aid.

That’s great for you… pity your alma mater didn’t win all of their games, isn’t it?

Pity, too, that you can’t seem to read all of the site that you’re spending your time on- you’d realize that there are more than a few folks with advanced degrees who write at this site. I’m sure, though, that your literacy level isn’t reflective of all Aggies… I have quite a few friends who are A&M alumni, and they seem to manage just fine.

Thanks for coming by… best of luck next season doing whatever it is you do to support your team.

Honestly, bragging about your education and your team’s stats on a post entirely unrelated to either…could you possibly have less self-confidence? It’s really very sad.
