“Class ranking” is all about perception. Is your program seen as going in the right direction, holding your own, or on the way down? Never mind that half of these guys will never pan out and half of the guys you brought on as afterthoughts will be wonderful, what seems to count is how many stars they had when you got ‘em. I have no problem with that.

Just remember that AJ Hawk and James Laurinaitis were three-star guys when they got to OSU. Troy Smith was not much to look at initially.

On an unrelated note, Batman will NOT be tracking down the guy that catfished Manti Teo. Batman is over at Subway getting me a sammitch. I promise. Just you wait.

I really wonder if O’Connor really just got the feeling he wasn’t wanted. When you’re sitting there and all you hear is “We need more offensive linemen, we need more offensive linemen,” what does that tell you? I know that injuries happen and they carry a LOT of guys, but that can’t make a kid feel good. I know he was hurt and all, but the end of the bench would be a lonely place.

I feel for Crowell and O’Conner. Both kids wanted to be Buckeyes and Crowell has just never healed up. It seems that injuries and homesickness can be the downfall of many a youngsters and we need to rememebr thsat is what they are . . , youngsters. Two more spots for Coach Meyer to bring in some “ringers”

Speaking of football (not much of a segue, was it?) I see where Urbs has 2 more scholarships opening up will Crowell (injury) and O’Connor (wanting to play nearer to home) leaving the team.

Quite the week, Jason. A couple thoughts.

A bit disturbing to hear how the Breslin end-game played out. Although I was frustrated at Scott’s shot, such as it was, I gave Shannon the benefit of the doubt as making a soph mistake. It seems, I was wrong. This appears this is an example of Izzo outcoaching Matta. In light of Thad’s recent pay raise, the optics are not good with this one.

We have to part company with Manti Te’o; not only did I think that he did not deserve Heisman consideration, I didn’t think he was the best linebacker in the country. Alabama exposed him for what he was; an enthusiastic but B-grade athlete that benefitted from Notre Dame hype machine.

Just full of sunshine today, aren’t I?
