I disagree, as does Boise's conference, who've made it a violation to wear all blue in conference play.

The key is not about the "in game" experience, but the ability to break down film. Blue on blue on blue (or, even worse, red on red on red) makes for a long LONG day in the film rule.

I don't think that any of the teams mentioned will have green the same shade as their field, so I'm hopeful it won't be a problem.

The "Boise State" rule is ridiculous. Charles astutely points out that players are not looking down at the field, but down field. Yes, Oregon, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Tulane, Marshall, Colorado State, etc. will be required to modify their uniforms and exclude green.

I like the current NFL rule, it is more exciting when players can get back up and run if they are not 'down by contact.' However I can see the point in terms of player safety as the current rule does encourage more hits of players on the ground. The one knee down rule would also make the job of the officials easier as it eliminates the need to determine whether a player was down by contact. I'd prefer the rule to stay how it is in the NFL but I won't really be bothered either way and even if they change it I suspect most fans will stop noticing the change after a year or two.

The "Boise State Rule" is fantastic. That smurf turf is a joke and needs ripped out. The automatic ejection will have people up in arms when it happens to a key player. Good stuff! Thanks!

I wonder what you guys think about the NFL looking at implementing the "one knee down" rule that college has in place of "down by contact" to avoid defenseless hits. It's interesting!

You covered a lot of ground here, Charles, thank you. As I was reading, I wondered about the 'targeting' rule and if it would have any impact on the frequency of it actually be called. You answered it in your 4th paragraph.
