It’s almost that time of year with only 44 days until The Ohio State Buckeyes play the Naval Academy in Baltimore.
As I sat and thought about it, I realized it would be a good time to get some opinions from the fans of Ohio State and our staff here at The Buckeye Battle Cry.
I look forward to the comments on the site and the discussion that follows. These articles are some of my favorites as it gets as many Buckeye fans involved that want to be!!!
So without holding the process up any longer I think we need to hear from the Best Damn Fans in the Land!!
Here are the questions I posed to the fans and staff:
Who do you think will be the starting cornerbacks for the Buckeyes when the season starts? Mid –Season?
Ken – Doran Grant and Armani Reeves will be … [Read More]
On July 8th, 2010, LeBron James went on national television and announced that he was leaving Cleveland to “take his talents” to South Beach and play for the Miami Heat. Hearts all over Ohio, especially in North Eastern Ohio, and most especially mine, were ripped out and crushed.
A lot has happened in the four years since “The Decision”. LeBron James has gone on to four straight NBA Finals appearances, winning two. The Cavaliers fell to the lowest of lows obtaining four straight top four lottery picks including three number one overall.
But maybe most importantly in those four years, everybody grew up and got a little wiser. All the parties involved in the horrible day that was 7/8/10 that was to culminate at the Boys and Girls Club in Camden, New Jersey live on ESPN and sent shock waves through Cleveland realized just how much they … [Read More]
Happy “Archie Days Until Football!“, people. Oh, and please notice that I spelled that with two “Os” and not a “U”, just the way St. Woody would have demanded. Look, Imma let you finish Germany, but College Football is the greatest game of all time!
Ahem. Here’s your Wednesday morning soundtrack. Looking forward to Block O and TBDBITL bringing this to The ‘Shoe
I wanted to talk about some of the talent we have on defense and how the Buckeyes’ new defensive staff will bring the most out of this talented young roster. This will be a two part article as I look at the linebackers and defensive backs.
Before I get into the staff’s new package and way of thinking defensively, I want to say something about our old “bend but don’t break” defensive package. While it was effective for many years, I think it’s just a little too passive with the development of College Football and all the spread offenses the past 5-10 years. With that being said, there is still a place for it, but that would be more for situational uses.
The one issue the Buckeyes could run into is not ensuring the defense has a true understanding of the scheme while keeping it as fresh … [Read More]
Welcome to this week’s edition of Weekend Wonderings. I hope that everyone enjoyed their 4th of July celebrations and promptly got back to being productive at work on Monday. As always, grab your beverage of choice and let’s proceed. Of course, joining us this morning will be Maroon 5.
Happy Birthday - This past week marked the 24th “birthday” of The James. Congratulations!
Here is a link, in case you need it. Hopefully you don’t, but here it is. It’s a notification and registration for a webinar for non-small cell lung cancer treatment. The speakers are Gregory Otterson and Tracy Ruegg of The James. Webinar dates are July 24th and August 16th.
Don’t forget, Pelotonia is coming up next month. Here is a list of four studies supported by Pelotonia. We recently completed a successful Ride for Roswell in Buffalo. Now, it’s your turn Columbus.… [Read More]
The King is back – where he belongs, in Northeast Ohio.
Friday afternoon’s announcement that LeBron James was returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers was Earth-shattering, but it really should not have come as a surprise. In fact, the only reason it was a shock was because of the inept and biased reporting at ESPN, which did everything in its’ power to belittle the Cleveland franchise. Every piece of evidence that LeBron wanted to return to the Cavs was met with an avalanche of attacks.
This, coupled with the “we’re used to crushing disappointment” attitude that we Clevelanders have grown accustomed to, were the biggest reasons that doubt crept in as The Decision 2.0 was being made.
Me? Never had a doubt.… [Read More]
With all the social media and recruiting websites out there, I must admit that I have issues with recruiting rankings.
I mean the kids love it, but to me it just does not matter as much as The Ohio State coaches evaluation of said recruits.
I believe in most cases, coaches recruit to fill specific needs in regards to the depth chart.
With that being said, you will always have a handful of players you give scholarships regardless. Once you get to a certain point in your class though — just like the NFL draft – you take the best available players and let them earn a spot on the depth chart.
Now I want to stress that in the same breath, the staff needs to get the best players in Ohio every year. This keeps the border protected around the Buckeye State and somewhat makes it … [Read More]
