The NCAA obviously needs fixing. Over a year ago Emmert said that the NCAA needed fixed, but that they would revise the rule book and not start over. That’s not going to work. They need to form a committee (coaches, players, administrators, athletic directors, current and former student athletes, boosters, sports writers, fans, enforcement, etc) and have them pretend that no rule book exists. Start from square one. Don’t worry about what the rules and procedures have been, just think about the current climate and what makes the most sense. Only way to have common sense rules that are easier to follow and enforce.

With the inclusion of a “Lack of Institutional Control” charge, I very much doubt the NCAA is going to let them off easily. The NCAA has essentially written themselves a blank check in terms of laying down punishment.

We’ll have to wait to see the sum total of the Notice of Allegations, and ultimately, Miami’s response to be sure – but I doubt they’re going to get off easily.
