a foul is a foul and I can tell you through comversations with D1 officials that one of their POEs EVERY season is protect shooters, protect ball-handlers and protect rebounders with Good positioning.

I too am tired of watching these guys I have looked up to and tried to learn from in this game, they have ruined it for everybody else becuase now everyone thinks its advantage disadvantage and they are comletely wrong.

Smith being fouled and then getting whacked for his motioning Sampson was a direct result of other” complaining. The crew working went out of their way to make a point of NOT calling a foul and Sanzere should be fired for it.

Well, we did our part, but once again ttun fell short, missing one throw after another from the charity stripe to give away the game. I still can’t help but laugh.
We can take the #2 seed to the bank and enjoy the tourney finals. It looks like Illinois, Northwestern, Michigan State will stand in our way. I feel good about that.

The rules are pretty explicit. Contact with a player in the process of shooting is a foul. While the player is still in the air, but has released the ball, he is still “in the process of shooting”. It’s supposed to penalize those players who rush to try to get a hand in the face and lose control doing it.

Nice recap, Eric. That’s about as good a summary that can be put together on this game. I didn’t expect OSU to be flat at start of the game, and certainly wasn’t expecting them to come out listless in 2nd half, considering their end-of-half run to get them the lead.

I do like the smaller line-up as an “energizer”, but the Buckeyes can’t leave points on the table with missed free throws and lay-ups.

The only thing I can think of with your officiating point, is maybe refs figure that ‘contact that doesn’t affect the shot is no foul’, but when the shooter gets crumpled.. that’s a whistle-worthy event.

Now, we’ll see what the BTT match-up looks like.
