Stephen Collier Is A Buckeye!!

Wonder no more… Welcome to Columbus!

With questions swirling regarding the 2014 Quarterback situation, Ohio State received an answer late Friday night, as Georgia’s Stephen Collier committed to be the 12th member of the Ohio State 2014 recruiting class.

In a story that was initially announced by our friend Jeremy Birmingham over at 11Warriors; Collier was offered by Coach Herman this evening and accepted on the spot. He was initially evaluated by the staff last April, but they had another chance to get to know each other this past weekend during one of the many camps that Ohio State has hosted over the past few weeks. Coach Meyer was interested in following up with Collier at that time, but it was only after the staff was able to sit down this week that the decision was made to extend an offer.

Collier is currently “under-ranked” by the major scouting services; meaning that his “stars” number is not currently something that will stand out. What is significant, though, is that he has been invited to the Elite 11 process, and will be attending The Opening that Nike coordinates for top student athletes nationally.  He was also the MVP for the NFTC that was held in Atlanta earlier this summer. In addition, and most impressive to me, is that Stephen currently has a 4.2 GPA entering his senior year of high school at Lee County.

The 6′ 3″ “dual threat” quarterback had interest from Boston College, Cincinnati, Louisiana Tech, and Harvard. You read that last one correctly.

There’s some speculation that this offer will allow the Buckeyes to continue to pursue another high-profile QB for this class, but we’re not going to comment on that here.  Instead, let’s enjoy a bit of what this newest commitment will bring to the Scarlet and Gray:

Welcome to the Buckeye Family, Stephen!!
