In today’s edition, we celebrate number 2, the Ohio State’s margin of victory over Michigan on November 23rd, 1974, 12-10.
The 1974 match-up pitted No. 3 Michigan at 10-0 vs. No. 4 Ohio State at 9-1. Buckeye kicker Tom Klaban made four field goals in the win.
The Wolverines lost an undefeated season and the Big Ten title in this one, thanks mainly to the kicking of Tom Klaban, who accounted for all of the Buckeyes’ points with his four field-goals.
A last-second (:18 sec left) field-goal miss by the Wolverines’ Jim Lantry provided a fitting climax for an installment of the rivalry dominated by kicking.
Believe it or not, there’s game-day footage available… although, you’ll be surprised to discover, it’s not in high definition. Where was Gameday back then?
