The women’s soccer team is off to a 3-0 start and is riding a 14-match unbeaten streak. Nichelle Prince, a freshman from Ontario, Canada, has three assists and a goal while freshman Lindsay Agnew, a Dublin Jerome product, has a pair of goals. The Lady Buckeyes played Arizona Sunday evening and travel to Boston College later this week.
The men’s soccer team is 1-1 after splitting a pair of games in the Wolstein Classic. Senior Sage Gardner scored the only goal on a PK in a 2-1 double OT loss to UNC-Wilmington. Earlier on Sunday, OSU beat Northern Illinois 2-0.
The cross country teams swept the Flyer 5K Challenge in Dayton and it really wasn’t fair.
The women’s team was simply amazing, placing all five scorers in the top 10 to score 24 points. IUPUI was second with 53 points. Freshman Jill Kanney was second overall at 18:36. Sophomore Lexi Aughenbaugh (18:51.1) was third, junior Katie Borchers (18:58.1) fifth, sophomore Minori Mingawa (19:03.3) sixth and sophomore Helen Willman (19:08.6) eighth.
The men’s team scored 30 points and had four in the top 10 to easily defeat second-place IUPUI by 12 points. Sophomore Jordan Redd was the overall winner in 5:37.9. Redshirt sophomore Brian Hannaford (15:43.5) was third, Sophomore Nick Pupino (15:44.6) fourth and redshirt sophomore Jeff Hannaford (15:59.6) ninth.
Junior Taylor Sherwin was named MVP as the volleyball team (3-0) won the Northern Illinois invite, beating the hosts 3-2 on Saturday night to clinch the title.
Seniors Kaitlyn Leary and Davionna DiSalvatore joined Sherwin on the All-Tournament team.
Leary recorded the first double-double in her career with a career-high 26 kills and 22 digs. Freshman Kylie Randall made her first appearance and finished with 18 kills in the win. Sherwin set-up the Buckeye offense with 50 assists overall.
DiSalvatore sparked the defense with a season-best 29 digs, while senior Julianne Mandolfo added a 15 digs in the victory. Junior Anna Faul, Sandbothe and Randall each had three blocks.
The Lady Buckeyes also beat Liberty and Green Bay in the tourney.
