It was the former defensive stars of the Buckeyes who took the headlines in week 4 of the NFL.
James Laurinaitis had his best game of the season registering 12 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, and 2 passes deflected against San Francisco. In that same game, Donte Whitner recorded 3 tackles, a tackle for a loss, and 2 passes deflected in the 9ers win.
Continuing the defensive theme, CB, Malcolm Jenkins of the Saints had seven tackles in their win over the Dolphins on MNF. Former Buckeye Brian Hartline hauled in 3 passes for 34 yards in the loss.
In Cleveland, former Buckeyes Mike Nugent and Dane Sanzenbacher contributed but it was too little too late for the Bengals. Nugent registered 2 field goals for the only points for the Bengals and Dane recorded his first catch of the season for 6 yards in front of many family and friends.
Other Buckeyes of note for week 4 of the NFL season:
John Simon – Ravens – 1 tackle
Cam Heyward – Steelers – 1 pass deflection
Santonio Holmes – Jets – 1 catch for 25 yards
Will Allen – Cowboys – 1 tackle
Jake McQuaide once again was spot on with his snaps during the Rams 35-11 loss on Thursday Night Football.
