In the past week and a half, the Buckeyes have defeated the Golden Eagles, the Eagles and now face the Ospreys. This could be a bad month for birds of prey.

Dallas Moore

The Ospreys, out of the Atlantic Sun Conference, enter Friday’s game with a record of 4-3, so their pre-conference season is above water. Last season wasn’t that successful for the Ospreys, as they finished with a 13-19 (7-11) record. They do put up a lot of points  (77 per game) but also allow quite a few (73 per game)

The Ospreys start a nominally 3G/2F lineup, but other than G  Dallas Moore (6’1″) they go 6’6″ – 6’8″, so they do bring some decent height. Their “tall” player is freshman C Romelo Banks, who does get around 11 minutes per game. UNF does have four players who have averaged in double digit scoring for them this year; G Sean Brennan (14.0), G Dallas Moore (10.9), G Beau Beech (10.4) and F Travis Wallace (13.1) who also leads them in rebounding with 7.7 per game.

Ohio State Buckeyes

Aaron Craft surpassed 1000 points for his career today.

Aaron ‘Swoon’ Craft

The 7th ranked Buckeyes (5-0) pushed through the last 10 minutes of the game to grab a win against a game Wyoming team. This was an encouraging outing in that Lenzelle Smith, ever the streaky shooter, had 20 points on 6-12 FG’s and 5-8 from the perimeter. Let’s hope that this streak last for the next 30-35 games. Amir Williams is now developing into a very viable post player; his double-double (12 pts, 16 reb) are a good marker for his development.

After this game, the Buckeyes get a few days off before hosting a game on December 4th against Maryland in the Big Ten/Soon Big Ten Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

Wrap Up

UNF is another good-shooting team from the field and 3-point range, so Ohio State can’t fall asleep on defense. As well as the Ospreys play on offense, they pay just as badly on defense.  The Ospreys can put some decent height and mobility on the floor, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see Thad offer Thompson (naturally), Loving, ADV and probably McDonald some significant rotation time. So, not much different from what we’ve seen so far. The ability of OSU to play defense and UNF not will make the difference in this game.

The game is Friday, tipping off at 5:00 PM EST in Value City Arena. The game will be broadcast on BTN.  Please join us for our live blog beginning approximately 30 minutes before tip-off. Refreshments may be provided.
