University of Cincinnati Bearcats
Cincinnati enters Sunday’s game at 4-4. Their last game was a 83-63 win over Youngstown State back on December 8th, so the Bearcats should be well rested. The team is averaging 62 points per game on offense, while giving up 61 on defense. However, their games aren’t that close. In three of their losses, the margins have been by 16 points (twice) and 36 points. In three of their wins the point margins have been 19, 31 and 21; so this team is either on or it’s not. They are led in scoring by 5’6” guard Dayeesha Hollins at 12.6 PPG and 6’2” forward Jeanise Randolph 11.9 PPG. Randolph also leads the Bearcats in rebounding with 6.8 per game.

Ohio State University Buckeyes
The Buckeyes are coming off an inspiring, and much needed win over Army on Friday. With a little over four minutes to play, Ohio State was down by 10 points, but rallied to win the game in the closing seconds. Ohio State is currently averaging 66 points per game on offense and allowing 64 on defense. The team is going through a period of sporadic bouts of poor to mediocre shooting, but is offsetting these lapses with tenacious defense and a “never give up” attitude. The player who is emerging for Coach McGuff is 6’2” senior center Darryce Moore. She has become the Center of Attention for this team.
And, here are your Ohio State Buckeyes:
Cincy starts a 4G/1F lineup, so they forego size for quickness. Ohio State’s “small” lineup of Alston, Craft, Moore, Ferguson, Ellerbe, Scullion should match up well with the Bearcats. This will be a good opportunity for the Buckeyes to test their road play after the inspiring win on Friday. Fortunately, this is a short road trip for the team. It’s quite possible that McGuff will allow Lisa Blair some playing time as part of his ‘Blair Project’.
The game is Sunday December 15th at 2:00 PM EST in Fifth Third Arena. The game will be aired on radio 1460 AM.
