The Ohio State Buckeyes (11-6, 1-0) are currently on a four-game winning streak after, a 2nd half surge moved them past #17 Purdue, 89-78 on Thursday. The Buckeyes return home for a Sunday evening game against the University of Michigan. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 PM EST this Sunday in Columbus.
Here’s their Profile
University of Michigan
Coach Arico brings the Wolverines to Columbus to open their Big Ten schedule. They are currently at 9-4 on the season and on a modest two game winning streak, having handled Southern 83-59 and Alcorn State 76-31. I’d expect the competition to be a bit tougher on Sunday. Last season, the Wolverines went 22-11, 9-7 in the B1G.
TTUN uses a 4G/1F lineup, consequently they don’t put a lot of height on the floor. However, they do score aplenty (75 PPG) and have four players’ average double figures: guard Shannon Smith (5’7”, 15.1ppg), guard Siera Thompson (5’7”, 13.7ppg), forward Cyesha Goree (6’3”, 12.8ppg) and guard Nicole Elmblad (5’11”, 12.7ppg). Elmblad and Goree lead the Wolverines in rebounding at 8.6 and 8.s per game, respectively.

Ohio State University Buckeyes
The Buckeyes sit atop the Big Ten at the moment. How about that? An impressive 2nd half surge powered Ohio State past Purdue, hopefully McGuff’s team can carry that performance over against UM. Against Purdue, the team shot well, rebounded well and offensively moved the ball well. I don’t expect 89 points per outing, but there elements in place where the existing tenacious defensive play can be complemented by efficient offensive production.
And, here are your Ohio State Buckeyes:
This should be an interesting match up of guard play between the two teams, and Ohio State’s capability to bring frontcourt size to the floor with Ashley Adams, Darryce Moore and Martina Ellerbe. Although Michigan is a “guard heavy” lineup, McGuff should be able to counter with Craft/Alston/Ferguson/Kynard/Scullion; all of who have seen ample playing time this season.
The game is Sunday afternoon in Columbus, tipping off at 5:00 PM EST at Value City Arena. Television coverage will be provided by BTN, radio coverage by 1460 AM.ESPN2.
