The Ohio State Buckeyes (10-6) are currently on a three-game winning streak, hopefully building momentum entering Big Ten Conference play. A good thing, too, since OSU hosts the #17 Purdue Boilermakers (10-2) who are currently on a five-game winning streak. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM EST on Thursday January 2nd in Columbus.
Here’s their Profile
Purdue comes into this game streaking (5 in a row) and seemingly with a capability to play any style of basketball that is required. For example, in their previous win (Dec.28th) against Central Michigan, the Boilermakers went “racehorse” to win 109-97. In their prior two games, they went “plow horse”, beating Bowling Green 57-48 and Green Bay 49-45. Purdue’s two losses have come against #6 Stanford and #2 Duke, so the Boilermakers are beating the teams they should.
Purdue will start a 4G/1F lineup, with guards KK Houser and Courtney Moses, table below, combining for 30 points per game. Forward Whitney Bays (6’2″) comes off the bench for significant playing time (20 minutes per game) and scoring (10.6 PPG).

Ohio State University Buckeyes
This 1st year of Kevin McGuff has turned out pretty interesting. Ameryst Alston has certainly emerged as the team leader, ably supported by Raven Ferguson, Martina Ellerbe and Darryce Moore. After getting plenty of rest in the early non-con schedule, Senior center Ashley Adams has begun to round into form with two good performances this past week. Now we begin conference play; now is the time for Ashley to show what we expect from her.
Here are your Ohio State Buckeyes:
This is going to be a tough match-up for OSU back-court, but their front line may do well, especially is Ashley Adams has a good game. At this point, the Buckeyes resemble a Forest Gump box-o-chocolates, not quite sure what we’re going to get on a game to game basis. However, one thing we will get is an aggressive style of play, with end-to-end full-throttle effort by this team. There may be games where they don’t shoot well, nor rebound well, but they will always play hard. As fans, that is what we look for, and as a team, that style may snag an unanticipated win now and then.
It’s a Purdue preview, so you know what that means. Oh, how I love doing Purdue previews…

The game is scheduled for Thursday at 7:00 PM EST. That should give you plenty of time to have shaken off the New Year’s Eve festivities. If you can’t get to the game, it will be televised on BTDN and aired on radio 1460.
