Ben Edwards Joins The Class of ’15

ben edwardsThe Olympics isn’t the only thing generating sports news this week, at least as far as Ohio State fans are concerned. The Buckeyes received a commitment from Floridian Ben Edwards, per ESPN’s Jared Shanker. Edwards measures up at 5’11″, 192 (think Donte Whitner-esque) and will probably play safety. His 40-time (4.7) isn’t blazing, but for a safety, that’s fast enough. And, he hits like a truck… a 4.7 truck, so he’ll leave plenty of marks.

Edwards, from Trinity Christian Academy in Jacksonville, FL has been rated as a 3-star recruit by various services, but to be honest, it doesn’t matter what he’s “rated” at. If he’s a quality person that can play football well, and Urban & Staff have offered him, then that’s good enough for me. Other notable offers include from Auburn, Stanford, Georgia Tech, Stanford and UCLA, among others. This is an impressive list of universities; athletically and academically.

This is good news; I can’t wait until next year. Mr. Edwards, welcome to the Buckeye Family!
