Welcome to this week’s edition of Weekend Wonderings. Grab whatever beverage that you need and let’s proceed. In fact, this is a 3-day weekend, so you’d better grab an extra one while you’re up.
And, yes, let’s give thanks to these gentlemen on the right, and their fellow servicemen, who made the sacrifices that we can do what we do today.
Last week, I touched upon a new genetically modified treatment of T-cells to attack and kill multiple myeloma tumors. The research team’s recommendation was to proceed with clinical trials. Well, here’s a tour of the new Clinical Trial area under construction at The James.
Moving on, guys, one in seven of us will be diagnosed with prostate cancer. It’s not always “the other guy”, because at some point we start to run out of ‘other guys’. Here is some information for you from Channel 10 TV and The James.
With the Memorial Day weekend here, Summer is nigh upon us. The children are out of school, BBQ’s/grills are getting fired up and landscaping needs attention. Despite all this activity, or perhaps because of all this activity, it doesn’t hurt to step back and “decompress”. By “decompress”, I mean just get away (staycations do not count!) for a couple of days to relax.
My Lovely Bride and I just returned from a brief decompression session in the Finger Lakes. It is only and hour and a half away, we were away for two days, but it was the bit of relief we both needed to get squared away for the summer. Nothing like an elegant dinner and wine tastings at several wineries, and some time away to clear the cobwebs and lower the blood pressure. If you have a comparable area new to you, I suggest that consider some decompression as well.
Two weeks ago I had some Irish music for you. Today is more Celtic music; Sinead O’Connor singing ‘She Moved Through The Fair’. This performance from 1997 is probably catching her at her lilting voice best. Enjoy.
