Why So Excited You Ask…

Written May 27th, 2014 by MDotySr

I understand that some people are concerned with the lack of commitments in 2015 class. So instead, why not look to the upcoming 2014 season and the potential for The Ohio State Offense. If Braxton Miller can stay healthy and improve just that little bit, opposing defenses on our schedule better look out! I mean we are loaded with talent, talent and then a little more talent! Not to mention Mr. Miller is a Heisman candidate with a very good chance of taking home the trophy.

It’s great to watch the highlights of these kids on this roster and then seeing them doing their thing in Scarlet and Gray. It is going to be a great year for Buckeye fans and me for one, am very proud to be a member of this brotherhood/sisterhood.

QB:  Braxton Miller. We all know what he can do, NOW can you throw to the TE? I think this is a key component to our chance at a National Championship.

Curtis Samuel

Curtis Samuel

RB:  Ezekiel Elliot, Brionte Dunn and Curtis Samuel. I know there is a name or two left off, but this is going to be a strength for the Buckeyes. Eze is the most complete back who obviously will be the starter but the other two young men are going to be very active in this offense. I believe Dunn will be that short yardage/goal line back for us and Samuel will be a rotational player with the ability to let Eze catch a breather. Our RB situation is a great reason to be excited for this upcoming season!

WR/TE: Dontre Wilson, Jalin Marshall, Jeff Heuerman, James Clark, Devin Smith, Evan Spencer, Johnnie Dixon and Michael Thomas.  This should be such a strength of this team for the upcoming season (and years to come) with all that youth, speed and athleticism! I am really expecting some big things from this position group and though I think at the start of the season Smith and Spencer (if healthy) will start, but these other young men will have something to say about that by the third game in my opinion. The competitive edge will go to the player who works hardest and are going to fight to play!  Again, for the record I think Jalin Marshall could see a lot of action if healthy and maybe turn out to be the best of the group when all said and done.

Devin Smith

Devin Smith

I cannot imagine us not scoring 45 points a game! This offense is going to be fast, explosive and plentiful. We have a young roster full of exciting players and some of the best coaches in the country. This serves as another reason I am not concerned with only two verbal commits at this point. The options available to this coaching staff are much better than most Ohio State Rosters I have seen top to bottom.  I am actually smiling while typing this, I mean ear to ear! Who else can’t wait to see one these youngsters take it 80 yards to the house??? Anyone think to themselves which one of these players are going to be the real deal???? I am so looking forward to August 30th, 2014 and the beginning of our season, anyone else?

The Buckeyes will end up with a great recruiting class for 2015 and I have no doubt in my mind but hey I am a “Glass Half Full” type guy!

Now a few Silver Bullets:

  1. Looks like Jamal Marcus is gone (dismissed/transferred) and though the depth chart is deep, he would have been a player this year.
  2. Shaun Crawford has de-committed from TTUN and will visit TOSU on May 31 and he will have company in Justin Hilliard, Larry Scott and his younger brother Isaiah Scott.
  3. I would not be surprised if Ohio State walks away with multiple commitments. George Hill 2016 WR/RB could pull the trigger as well.
  4. According to his head coach, Justin Cook 2014 QB prospect accepted a preferred walk-on opportunity.
  5. Ohio State has lost out as of now for the #2 TE in the country as Hal Hentges committed to Alabama two days ago.
  6. Next Man Up!!!!

I am so excited to get this season stated!!!  BRING IT ON!!!

The obvious answer would be Chris Clark but I don’t see that happening. Look to start hearing some new names.

    Thanks

At this point in time the O Line is not set in stone. In your opinion who do you believe will be the starters. Do you think they will be up to speed by the 1st game?

I think Decker LT, Price LG, Lindsay C, Elflein RG and I would love to see Dodson come through at RT but I think that is an open battle. Yes, I think Warinner will have the troops very well prepared and up to speed.

Do you believe that there can be a rotation in the offensive line? Why or why not?

Sure I do, if it is handled properly. You need your starters to play most but if you have 2 or 3 guys that are close, you get them reps and keep the the OLine rested.

You didn’t mention Rod Smith. Is there something we don’t know?

Not hearing much good coming from his direction. Could be the odd man out…(would not surprise me to see him transfer to a small school so he can use his last yr of eligibility)

I think he would be a nice addition to this class. He is a real player, I just wish he was taller to be honest.

In your opinion, how do you think TOSU will fare with Hillard? Who is the team/s to beat for him?

I feel really good about Hilliard. His relationship with Kwon can only help. I really thing ND is the biggest competition to us…IMO

Who do you think re shirts this year? And do you believe TOSU will loose anymore players to attrition?

Not sure yet on RS’s as all the kids need to get in school and the weight room. Then they need to compete so that is something that is hard to guess at. I do think there will be more attrition to come, could be a number of players that are being passed on the depth chart by the youngsters.

Last year’s defense shown alot of holes. If there is a weakness to be exploited, where do you see it?

The only weakness I see (which will be determined by the kids and coaches)is some youth and inexperience.

As the season creeps closer, who do you believe is the biggest adversary (stumbling blocks if you will)!? Or is that a future article?

As an enthusiast, I have some concerns about our QB’S surgically repaired shoulder. What’s your opinion, concerns? I his trigger is rusty, will he get replaced? How effective will we be if he is?

Great article yet again. Really want to see Dontre Wilson become the man that he is capable of this upcoming season. Nothing but excitement for this offense for sure if everyone and specially Braxton stays healthy.
