“Our kids earn what they get, and that includes respect.” -Woody Hayes
“There’s no time like the present”. -Proverb
The above are likely more than bumper stickers for the latest member of Ohio State’s recruiting class, Tyler Green, who worked to earn the one offer he wanted and then immediately acted upon it.
The 6’3″, 195 pound safety from DeMatha High School in Maryland held offers from Virginia, Maryland, and NC State, but was receiving interest from Penn State, Florida, Tennessee, Florida State, and others.
And yet, it was only one program whose offer he was interested in, and when it was extended today as a part of Ohio State’s on-campus football camp, he wasted no time in accepting.
Unlike many top flight athletes who make commitments and continue to look around (similar to programs making offers that aren’t “commitable”), Green announces that he is locked and loaded into the “Elite ’15″ recruiting class for the Buckeyes. He makes the fourth member of that class at this point.
While projected as a Safety, Green’s listed as an Athlete by several recruiting sites due to his work as a receiver/tight end in high school. Most also assess him as being four star caliber- he’ll be showing his skills later this summer in Nike’s “The Opening” competition as well, and you can get a hint of what they’ll see in the highlight reel after the jump:
Welcome to the Dream 15 and the Buckeye Family, Tyler!
