My day today? Perfection. Unabashed perfection.
Ohio State 24, Penn State 7

Like a tornado that turns around to see the damage it has inflicted. Lots of empty seats, lots of overturned trailers.
A dominating performance against an overrated team. Yes, I said it.
Overrated.
The Penn State blogs are beside themselves, looking for excuses and ways to deflate Pryor’s big win. Yes, they’re still trying to call the 62-yard TD pass an “arm punt”.
Somewhere out there, someone is trying to find the vocabulary skills to write that Evan Royster’s 37 yards make him Heisman-worthy.
The win gives Ohio State the victory in three of the last four trips to Happy Valley.
Purdue 38, Michigan 36

Can we play Delaware State or Western Michigan every week?
Six weeks ago, I was getting troll-mails from Michigan fans, taunting me and Ohio State’s 3-1 record when the Wolverines were 4-0. I wonder if those guys will write back tomorrow?
Michigan probably lost their hopes for a bowl bid with today’s defeat to Purdue, and the Boilers rekindled their hopes of getting into the postseason.
Michigan (5-5) closes the season at Wisconsin (7-2), and home against Ohio State (8-2). They must have one win or they’re home for bowl season two years in a row. Purdue has two games left against 5-5 MSU and 4-6 Indiana. Despite starting 1-5, the Boilers might get in. Despite starting 5-1, the LOLverines might not.
And yes, the Michigan blogs are in full whine mode. Their main site’s live chat was abruptly ended about 4.3 seconds after the final play, long before the laughter had ceased.
By the way, the “Denard Robinson Experience” only gained four yards less than it did last week. Last week, it gained one yard. This week, negative-3.
Michigan’s defense has now surrendered an AVERAGE of 33.3 points per game in its’ last six games against Div 1 schools. Take away their win against Division 1-AA Delaware State, and they’ve been outscored for the season 258-257. But yeah, they’re totally way awesome.
Northwestern 17, Iowa 10

All week long at late-season garage sales, you'll find "Stanzi Is The Manzi" t-shirts at cut-rate prices!
The Hawkeyes jumped out to a 10-point lead in the first quarter, and then realized that they were Iowa. The 4th-ranked Hawkeyes finally decided that one good win and 8 really average wins was enough for them and they fell to the Northwestern Wildcats 17-10.
QB Ricky Stanzi was sacked or something in the second quarter, and fumbled the ball that NW recovered for a TD. He ended up leaving the game with a “severe high ankle sprain” and didn’t return. He will likely miss the Ohio State game next week.
Upon hearing the words “quarterback” and “severe high” in the same sentence, Brian Cook from MGoBlog immediately launched into a reflexive tirade about how Justin Feagin was never a memeber of the Michigan Wolverines and demanded several apologies from the Detroit Free Press and the estate of Mitch Albom.

She discovered football four weeks ago and already has a broken heart
Quote of the game has to go to Iowa Head Coach Kirk Ferentz. When asked about Stanzi’s injury, he said “Anytime you lose your quarterback, that’s not good”. Ferentz did not seem to notice that Northwestern won the game with THEIR starting quarterback, Mike Kafka, nursing an injury himself.
Later tonight, maybe someone can explain the irony of that statement to Ferentz. Just call him up now, he’s probably awake and waiting for that weekly phone call from the sherriff’s department. They have the team roster in the booking room, doncha know?
Over at Iowa’s main blog “Black Hearts, Brown Underpants“, they’re already in full meltdown.
I’ll save you the click-through. It was the ref’s fault.
Apparently the ref decided to bat down two out of every three of Iowa’s passing attempts, and on four separate occasions, they just took the ball away from the center and handed it to Northwestern’s coach (that’s sarcasm…Iowa passed for just over 33 percent on the day and had four turnovers).
Iowa brings their M*A*S*H unit and history of failure in big games to Columbus next weekend.
Navy 23, Notre Dame 21

No caption I could ever write would be any funnier than the look on Ostrich's face
I wonder if the national media will ask themselves if perhaps Navy actually was a good team when Ohio State beat them 31-27 in September?
Probably not, but they’re sure going to shut up about Notre Dame in the BCS after the Irish floated a BIG fail at home against the Middies.
Wanna know the best part?
The two-point difference came because of Jimmy Clausen, who will still likely get the Heisman vote from Lou Holtz. He got tackled in the end zone with one minute to play in the game.
I’ll wait for you to stop laughing.
Two Navy players carried for over 100 yards, as the Middies got 357 yards on the ground total. Navy improves to 7-3, and dammit the AP voters better recognize that when they rank us this week. meanwhile, Notre Dame falls to 6-3 overall, which is a respectable 67 percent of the goal that Holtz promised us they would make.
So if you ask me how my day was, I can answer it in one word.
Perfect.
Oh, and I got my Motorola Droid today. Yeah, life is good.

Well played, sir. Well played
Thanks Jeff! It took my wife only 2-3 games of your Live Blogging and now she has a crush on your snarky ass!
I dont know whether to be flattered or worried….
I couldn’t agree more, it was a great day of football yesterday.
On a side note, sorry I missed the live chat again yesterday, I ended up going to a friends house and didn’t bring a computer. It sounds like I’m missing some interesting stuff…
Hey Jeff, wow what a game ehh! Tressel ball was in full effect in the later part of the 1st half. 2 minutes left in the 1st half and he calls run plays?? And then we get the ball back with 30 ticks left and he wants to throw and hurry to try and get a field goal. We should have hurried and tried to get an actually TD with 2 minutes left ( whatever).
The Defense played lights out……..I think Penn St had like close to 12 three and outs for the game.
The company I had over had a blast…..I was tapped into an actual Keg yesterday ( Bud – Light )…….and we didn’t get it to float til about 2 am. We blared Buckeye tunes into the wee hours…….we were not only celebrating the victory or Penn St. , but also the ever growing laundry list of debacles from DickRod and his regime up North . Rich had better get his 2nd and 3rd string QB’s ready…..Cam , Thad , and the boys are comin!!!
I will be with you all the remander of the season on gamedays, but I was toasting to you all………
talk to ya next week.
Jeff………here is a quote from a blogger off a TSUN blog. this is classic…….
My 68 Camaro needs a little work. Just a few minor details with the body that need some work, paint, hood, mirrors, etc… So instead of ordering some new parts and do some quick fixes I’m going out tomorrow and dousing it with paint thinner, taking a sludge hammer to the wheels and finally driving it into a pond. Then I’ll have a wrecker pull it out and start my rebuild then. Why not? It would humble me, it would make me appreciate it more. Rich Rod would be proud.
20 wins in the 2 years before RR, including wins ove PSU, MSU and Florida…. 8 wins since he was hired. Virtually every single record set by past teams have now been broken. I love this rebuilding thing. It’s great.
…..this is just good stuff , isn’t it??
This Post is perfect, it goes through everything I thought/felt today watching all the games…Laughing at Scum,ND and so fourth, and the inflated sense of entitlement-Penn St fans. Great Job Jeff!
Flattered, Jeff! You’ve helped create another Buckeye fan!
Awesome
I have a different take on the PSU game. They weren’t overrated. They have an excellent defense, they have a good offense. We just finally put together a complete game. Our D line played out of their minds. And Pryor finally came to a game with confidence and attitude instead of looking like a guy who crammed for a test. If we can put it all together like that for the next two games, I’ll be walking a mile from my house to watch them beat the crap out of Stanford at the Rose Bowl! Okay, probably not Stanford. Oregon. I wouldn’t mind another shot at USC and that tool Barkley.
John- We’ve got to connect; I’m about 10 miles from Pasadena.
For me, the day was even sweeter. My wife is an unapologetic Husker fan. So, when they beat Chokelahoma, it added icecream to a pretty sweet cake and icing- especially since Buckeye Captain Bo Pellini was at the command.
Three more…
What a great football Saturday. Instead of heading back to campus for the game, we settled down with homemade pulled pork sliders, beer cheese, and a fresh keg of Great Lakes Christmas Ale in German Village. Unfortunately I dozed off before the prime time games.
I gotta say it’s always bittersweet seeing the top of the Big Ten and Michigan fall, but I will always love seeing Jimmy Clausen make a fool of himself.
Lets finish the next two weeks strong, Buckeyes!
