WBB Recap: Ohio State edged by Nebraska, 67-59

The Buckeyes were trying to break a four game losing streak by hosting the #17 Nebraska Cornhuskers. Meanwhile, Nebraska is on a six game winning streak. ¬†Umm.. The Buckeyes moved to 14-15, 4-9 on the season with the loss to Nebraska. Despite a lackluster first half by both team, Ohio State played very well in the 2nd half until they hit the dreaded “can’t buy a basket stretch. The Buckeyes went scoreless from the 8:02 mark to the :43 mark, well over 7 minutes, to see the game slip away.

 

This was truly one of their better games of the season, and hats off to Coach Kevin McGuff and his team. The Buckeyes were on a stretch where frankly, they weren’t playing very well, and were hosting a red-hot, ranked opponent. However, tonight, they pushed Nebraska to the limit

 

The Buckeyes shot % from the field The Buckeyes were led by Ameryst Alston (31 pts) and Amy Scullion (10 pts). Rebounding favored the Cornhuskers 44 to 34, and OSU didn’t help matters by committing 18 turnovers to Nebraska’s 11.

 

Nebraska shot % from the field The Cornhuskers were led by Rachel Theriot (26 pts) and Jordan Hooper (24 pts). Although held to a combined 5 points, Emilie Cady and Hailie Sample combined for 22 rebounds, 11 apiece.
