ULL (8-4 6-2 Sun Belt) vs. ECU (8-4 7-1 CUSA)
December 22nd, 12:00 PM ET, ESPN

History: Yet another new bowl game, the New Orleans bowl has been played in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans since 2001. That’s not entirely correct since the name changed, but we’ll roll with it for now. The game has been sponsored by R+L Carriers since 2006, after Wyndham Hotels and Resorts gave up sponsorship. The game regularly pits Conference USA against the Sun Belt, a condition that was not surprisingly satisfied this year.
They finished second in the Conference USA behind Arkansas State (who they lost to 50-27), and played a few good teams including Oklahoma State (65-24 L) and Florida (27-20 L). RAGIN’ CAJUNS Quarterback Terrance Broadway is a solid dual-threat player who has passed for 2526 yards and 16 … [Read More]

History: The Military Bowl, formerly known as the EagleBank Bowl, is played in the nation’s capital at Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium. The bowl game is now sponosored by defense contractor Northrop Grunman, which brought about the change in name this year as recently as October 26th. Not surprisingly, the game is designed to host one of the military institutions (Navy or Army) depending on a variety of factors, including bowl eligibility. 2010 will be the third year the game is played, with UCLA beating Temple last year and Wake Forest defeating Navy in the inaugural contest.

The Military Bowl gives a percentage of its proceeds to the United Service Organizations (USO), which provides support for our military personnel through a variety of programs and services. The bowl game’s committee hopes … [Read More]

Late Sunday/early Monday during the season (what can I say- west coast timezone), tBBC will be bringing you reflections on that week’s game. And, since it’s always great to have mood music to read to, let’s start with this clip from Pitchfork’s top ten videos from the ’90′s

All is right with the world- football is back, baby! And what a slate of games we had… although, for Buckeye fans, it all seems anticlimactic after Thursday night, amiright?

In case you’ve forgotten, Houston Nutt has a penchant for overtime games, being on the sidelines for several of the longest contests in history while at Arkansas. The one thing, though- he needs to remember how to “win” in OT and not just “play for OT”, as the Rebels were upset Saturday by the Gamecocks of Jacksonville State. As a public service announcement, tBBC would like to remind you that Jeremiah … [Read More]
