We’ve got an overlapping double header for you today!

The liveblog will start at 12:45 PM EST this afternoon. At 1 PM, the Army All-American Bowl will kick-off. There are three recruiting targets of interest in this one – WR Shelton Gibson, WR James Quick, LB Mike Mitchell. We’ll also be watching the following Ohio State commits throughout:

Evan Lisle is a Buckeye!

Ohio offensive lineman Evan Lisle has announced he will be a Buckeye this evening, becoming the fifth member of Ohio State’s 2013 recruiting class.

Being from the Buckeye friendly town of Centerville and having recently received an offer from Ohio State, this commitment doesn’t come as a surprise, although it is still nice to officially welcome another player into the 2013 class.

I recently previewed offensive line recruiting, and this is what I said about Lisle yesterday:

Listed at 6’6″ 265, Lisle has a great frame to go along with above average athleticism- he can run well at the second level and get to his blocks in open space (highlights).

I see right tackle in his future.

Rated as a four-star by Rivals, Lisle currently holds offers from Ohio State, Michigan, Alabama, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Miami (FL) among others.

Recruiting Update: The One Where I Talk About Tackles

I established in my last update that recruiting rankings don’t matter. If you don’t buy that, at the very least they are terrible indicators of how successful a player will be in college, and that is a fact.

At the same time, recruiting clearly does matter to college football.

The reasons why are pretty clear, but to state the obvious, the teams that do the best job filling their needs from year to year with the best talent, or at least talent that fits their system, will be the teams that have the most success each fall.

That brings me to Ohio State and their major need in the 2012 and 2013 recruiting classes. Most of you probably know what I am talking about already, but for those that don’t, the Buckeyes need offensive tackles.
