While they lost their two toughest tests of the season to Oregon and USC, they did finish the season strong with a win over in-state rival Arizona and the Fighting Rich Rod’s. ASU is currently coached by Todd Graham who conducts an offense led by a trio of 500 yard rushers topped by quarterback Taylor Kelly who ran for an additional 643 but oddly never reached the end zone on the ground. All of Kelly’s touchdowns came through the air as he threw for 2772 yards and 25 scores.

The Buckeyes are 2-0 all-time against the Sun Devils with the most famous game being the 1997 Rose Bowl. John Cooper’s finest hour was realized when Joe Germain hit David Boston … [Read More]

Sure, there’s games on Monday, but the weekend has been so amazing that we just couldn’t wait to get back in the saddle for our reflections on the games of note. Plus, are we really all that excited about a game that’s all technical and stuff? I thought not. Obvious choice for this week’s soundtrack… happy Labor Day.

Whew… I’ve got to admit, I should have been working out with Coach Mick during the offseason. Saturday found me trying to knock the rust off of my college football regimen, although I can definitely say that I was well hydrated. I’m guessing that’s what happened during the livechat- I hadn’t prepared enough, and brought the jinxation. You can breathe a sigh of relief, though- when I caught the replay on Sunday, my presence made no difference in the outcome… Baby steps, right?

From the looks of things, a number of teams … [Read More]

It’s here! Week one of the college football season is upon us and it’s time for tBBC College Pick-Em Challenge and my few thoughts on some of the games I picked. I am usually a perfectionist and like to do a lot of research about teams before making an educated guess, but today I am against a deadline and will go with my gut instincts on these. Let’s get started with the top match-up of the very young season. Follow this link to sign up for our pick-em and enjoy the season!

#13 Michigan St. v. #24 Boise St. – Coach Chris Petersen is one of the better coaches in the country and has had the Bronco’s on the cusp of greatness. He’s turned down some overtures from top programs to stick with what he has built and has an opportunity to pull off a shocker in East Lansing this Friday night. … [Read More]

December 23rd, 2010, 8:00 PM ET ESPN

Qualcomm Stadium, San Diego, California

History:

The Poinsettia Bowl is entering it’s 6th year of existence after being formed in 2005 by the organizers of the Holiday Bowl. The game originally didn’t have much of a tie-in role, but eventually settled on selecting the second best non-BCS Mountain West team to face off against the fifth or sixth best Pacific 10 team. In the event that there isn’t a bowl eligible Pacific-10 team remaining, the Poinsettia bowl selects a WAC team instead.

Also interesting to note is that the Navy has an open agreement with the bowl game. The Middies automatically accepted invitations to the Poinsettia bowl for 2008, 2009 and 2010 if Navy managed to end the regular season with bowl eligibility. In 2008, Navy ended up playing in the EagleBank Bowl against … [Read More]
