tBBC/BBN Roundtable: Final Football Thoughts

Written January 31st, 2014 by WVaBuckeye

There have been some pretty good round-tables from us here at tBBC in the past and this series will continue to excite!

I will let you guess who is on the right or left, Jeffy has returned to the middle

I will let you guess who is on the right or left, Jeffy has returned to the middle

We invited our comrades from tBBN to step in and speak their piece each week on the topics at hand. Want to thank each of them up-front before we even get started because they are all busy people in their day-to-days and are most definitely some of the best bloggers around; MOTSAG with Tony and Jeremiah; and Buckeye Empire with Chris and Ryan; as well as the usual suspects from these here parts pardner!

We thought we would tie up some lose thoughts, errr . . , ends on the football season.

What is your favorite memory of this past football season?

Empire Chris - Beating TTUN for the second time in a row, this time in their own house. Even though the game didn’t mean anything in the grand scheme of conference standings, it is still very satisfying to beat the Wolverines on their own turf.

Empire Ryan - Watching the growth of the defensive line, specifically Spence and Bosa.  Those two are on pace to be all-time great guys, and seeing their effort is one of the few positives about this year’s defense.

Precious Memories

MOTSAG Jeremiah - Beating TTUN….

Patrick - Carlos Hyde’s run against Iowa. He was a beast and carried this team when it needed it most all season (when he was at least given the ball to do so) and that run was just some kind of athleticism to marvel at.

Charles - The awesome showing by OSU fans at Cal and the large number of Cal fans admitting that OSU kicked their butts in terms of the team, the fans, and the band.

Mali - Watching Buckeye Nation embrace Kenny Guiton… even to the point of having some “controversy” when Braxton struggled.

Ken - The emergence of Carlos Hyde as a legitimate, multi-talented football player and as a team leader.

Scott - Beating Michigan. Nothing is as satisfying. (Well, maybe an orgasm. LOL.)

WVaBuckeye - Mine is a tie actually, Kenny G setting  first half passing TD mark and El Guapo almost breaking Eddies single game mark, against none other than Illinois.

Rumblin, Stumblin, Bumblin: Indiana Eve

Written November 22nd, 2013 by WVaBuckeye

I have been away for a couple weeks because of football playoffs(me officiating, yay) and a second bye week for the Buckeyes that was quite boring because all that happened was Oregon lost. I will stick to the last week and such in getting caught up with the times. Once we are finished this weekend it will be the greatest week in all of sports as #TheGAME will be approaching. Let’s roll with a very easy Rumblin.

#TBDBITL Premonition?

CARLOS CARLOS CARLOS!!!! Is there a better RB in college football right now? If you had to pause at all before answering the question, then turn in your college football sports fan card immediately. At one point in time he wouldn’t have been in the season discussion at all because let’s face it, he missed the first three games and his first game wasn’t memorable. What he has done since then has been just short of legendary. What he has done is tell us that he would be challenging Eddie’s single season mark from his Heisman season of 1995 had he been playing from the start.

Almost like Eddie! Eddie! Eddie! against ND, but Carlos leaves a little more distruction behind him!!

Rumblin, Stumblin, Bumblin: PurDON’T Eve

I love you Craig Krenzel, "Holy Buckeye" was alot like the two OT's the Buckeyes have had with Boilermakers

Craig Krenzel even had Mr. Musburger screaming, “Holy Buckeye!”

I have been a buckeye fan for a very long time and that’s mostly because I am old now. Not really. Truth is, I fell in love with the Buckeye’s in 1973 watching #45 run for a long TD on the TV while visiting relatives in Columbus. Their every Saturday ritual as a family was to gather around the big (in that time) color television and do what I refer to as house-gating. The food my aunt prepared was ridiculous and also had me hooked on the tradition of Ohio State football on Saturdays during the fall.

In those 40 years I can honestly only think of one team that has been a thorn in our side that shouldn’t have been. The Boilermakers of PurDON’T. They have really done a great job of messing up some of those Saturdays. I am of the belief that this may be different for once because of the Buckeye’s performance last weekend against The Nittany Lions.

Let’s get going with who Rumbled last week.

Let’s be totally honest with each other here. Two weeks ago, everyone was concerned about the play calling with regards to just running the ball and how the offensive coaching staff was not spreading the wealth. Fans were having a hard time understanding why Dontre Wilson and others were getting their well earned touches. My oh my, how a single game against a semi-rival who was suppose to be an issue can cure what ails us.
