• The basketball team has now won more games ranked #1 than the Football team. Who knew?
• Not a sell out, but a Wednesday 6:30 game, with 15,000 in the stands is hard to do against a lowly Iowa team.
• New jerseys.  How sweet were those!  I loved the white ones, but the gray ones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
• Diebs burned all of his 3′s in warm-ups.  Didn’t miss a shot.  And then, he went 1-8 in the game.
• 44 total turnovers between the 2 teams.  We had 20, about 10 too many.
• 19 games in and Deshaun Thomas got into double digits in assists!
• Nice to see Sibert get some time.  Only 4 guys over 30 minutes tonight, but much more spread out.
• Great Defense. Holding a team under 50 pts is not easy.
• 19-0 going to Illinois this weekend.  It is what I predicted.  Lets see what happens this weekend.

• 2 days and over 27,000 people at the Schott.  Full house for the men’s game of 19,500 and 7,500 for the women’s game!
• Students on the sidelines is a great move-  Just does so much more for the atmosphere.  Still need more interaction from the rest of the arena, though.
• New jerseys.  How sweet were those!  Matta surprised the team in the locker room after they had come out with the regular ones for warm-ups.
• Craft, where did the jumper come from?  Leave him open and he will hurt you as we saw yesterday.
• Sully, people won’t stop talking about his rear end.  The BTN even has a show where his dad is talking about it.
• Music and cheers at the game, I love the band, I love the Battlecry obviously!  But sometimes we need to lean on the energy songs for more crowd energy; the bell ringing, Black Eyed Peas in the last minute, etc.  One can only do so many Let’s go Bucks and Defense cheers.  Need some more creativity from the students.
• Free Throw shooting under 70% isn’t going to cut it in close games, and on into post season play.  J$ needs to concentrate a little bit more from the stripe.
• Having 5 guys over 33 minutes is scary thinking about post-season play with no legs again.  This is the one area that I will never understand with Matta’s coaching strategy. Read More

tBBC’s Joe brings us the “vibe” from Buckeye home games this year…

• The crowd was sure buzzing about J$, Craft, and Thomas.
• I think Sullinger had 5 or 6 dunks, and his ability to take the hit and still finish was quite impressive. Also he looked great going up and getting the ball at its high point. Double Double in his first game! Are you kidding me.
• Craft was a pleasant surprise for me. I really had my doubts, but he really impressed me today, and while I will still wait till he sees guys stronger and faster than him, I am cautiously optimistic. 8 Assists and 0 TO’s. Those are big time numbers.
• Lighty, Buford, Diebs, DLaud all look better than they ever have. And we know what we will get from them on a consistent basis.
• I wouldn’t book final four tickets yet, but I will say it is a strong possibility. I know it is only one game, and it was against an NAIA opponent, but we have all the match ups. We can play inside/outside, rebound, play defense on all positions. We have senior leadership, and a group of frosh that all understand how to play with each other.
• This team is going to be a ton of fun to watch. We really need to support this team early, come out to the Schott. Tickets are always available, and show this team some love, in the early season, because late season tickets are going to be hard to find.
• 5 guys in double figures and one of them not being Diebs is something that I don’t think we will see much this season, but what it does show is that we have a lot of guys that can score the basketball.
• The other thing I really like is the willingness to go 8-9 deep and use the bench, to be able to really get out and run in the open court, getting some easy buckets, and open 3 balls.
