From the Five-cier files:
“I’ve never been the greatest student. …. You really have to try to flunk out here. All you have to do is go to class, it’s not that hard. I’ve always been an average student. I don’t ever see myself being that smart of a student.”
“Reserve sophomore quarterback Tate Forcier did not meet University standards,” Michigan said in release Thursday.
That serves as a statement from Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez, according to U-M associate athletic director Dave Ablauf. Ablauf said he could not be more specific about the nature of the reason for Forcier’s ineligibility, but program sources said he was academically ineligible.
It will be interesting to see if the Wolverines can maintain their plans to redshirt freshman Devin Gardner, who is suffering from nothing at all but RRod needs him to have an extra year a back injury.
“And Tate, he tries to come out, but he’s not as consistent as Denard is. And that’s allowed Denard to jump a little bit ahead of Tate and I think that Tate’s going to have to do a lot of work to catch back up to Denard in camp this year.”
According to Woolfolk, what was once a neck-and-neck race between Forcier and Robinson for the starting quarterback job has begun to tip in Robinson’s favor. And a big reason for that, Woolfolk said, is the team’s perception of players who don’t show up to voluntary workouts.
“I personally have a lack of respect for them,” Woolfolk said. “The outlook on them is kind of diseased. Like you don’t want to be hanging around those people because they have bad work ethic. But at the same time, it’s my role to try to persuade them to come out more.”
According to Woolfolk, Forcier hasn’t shown up to as many workouts as him and the other seniors feel he should have, and Woolfolk said it’s hurting his teammates’ perception of their signal caller.
“The only reason he’s not really labeled as diseased is because of the way he was able to carry the team last year before we started losing. People still trust him a little bit, but he’s starting to lose that trust.”
Of course, that would be fabulous:
Michigan QB Tate Forcier (or at least former Michigan QB, his ass is getting benched in the near future) and his family have a webpage called qbforce.com. It is filled with remarkable amounts of stupidity and poor grammar. I highly recommend trying to navigate through the mess if you have the stomach for it.
In particular, everyone should check out the hall of shame. Apparently it is supposed to be used as a source of motivation… or something. Luckily for us it doubles as a source of entertainment and humor.
First of all, I would like to state publicly that it is now a mission of mine to make it into the ‘hall of shame’ as much as possible (check out the section where they track bad press and negative message board material). Secondly, we have already made it into the illustrious hall once with this video that Jeff put together.
Seriously, everyone should check out that site if they haven’t already, it is full of awesomeness.
Enjoy the weekend everyone.
