The Buckeyes came out on fire tonight against Savannah State, routing the Tigers 85-45 in Columbus. In particular, the Buckeyes came out clicking in all phases of the game, and really made it tough for the Tigers to operate on the offensive end. DeShaun Thomas led all scorers with 22 points, despite scoring only 1 in the first half. He was joined by LaQuinton Ross (13), Shannon Scott (12), and Evan Ravenel (10) in double figures from the Buckeyes, while the Tigers only saw Arnold Louis (14) break the 10 barrier.

I definitely want to give a shout out to Evan Ravenel’s 10 points and career high 9 rebounds. Unfortunately, he still doesn’t have a double double, but it’s only a matter of time. I’d also like to mention Alex Rogers who saw decent playing time in the last 4 minutes, and Jake Lorbach who scored his first points in … [Read More]

The Ohio State men continue their stretch of games in which they should win when they face the Savannah State Tigers out of the Mid-Eastern Conference tonight at home. The Buckeyes are coming off an easy win against Long Beach State. Savannah State, however, is coming off an 10 day layoff after losing their conference opener to Norfolk State on December 1st.

Once the B1G had added Nebraska as their twelth member in the Summer of 2010, the conference expansion discussion found itself quietly simmering in the other room – out of sight, but not entirely out of mind. Every once in a while, not surprisingly, someone has to get up and stir the pot a little.

We’ve watched the Big East scramble to find partners, seeing their own demise written on the wall with the loss of Syracuse and Pitt to the ACC. We’ve seen the SEC poach Missouri and Texas A&M off the Big 12. And we’ve seen the Big 12 pick up WVU and TCU to boost their flagging numbers.

In the last two weeks that simmering pot just had to go and boil over onto the floor and force us to really pay attention to it again. This time though, the B1G fans and bloggers get to sit … [Read More]

March Madness is here! Coming up over the next two days, the staff here at tBBC will get you ready to fill out your brackets by evaluating each region in the field of 68. Coming up later today, Eric will take a look at the East bracket that features Ohio State as a #2 seed. WVaBuckeye will follow tomorrow with the South bracket with Kentucky and MaliBuckeye will wrap things up with a review of the Midwest bracket. Today, we take a look at what I believe is the most interesting region of the 2012 tournament. The West features 5 of the top 20 top scoring offenses, including three teams that average over 80 points per game. From top seeds, to cinderellas, to teams that could get upset in the first round — We have it all as we get ready for the best two weeks in sports all year … [Read More]

It’s the eve of the most mythical of mythical national championship matchups. The game that no-one outside of the bible belt actually wanted to see again after the ugly 9-6 OT finish in the middle of the season. The matchup that brought to light questions as to why, exactly, Michigan was not allowed a rematch in the 2007 mythical national championship game.

Amusingly, while everyone was busy clamoring that they would refuse to watch the championship game this year, a number of major College Football analysts and writers claimed that fans would watch anyway. “It’s college football at it’s best,” they breathlessly exclaimed, “You can’t help but watch it in the end.”

Well, I have repeatedly argued that I would not, could not, watch that travesty of a championship. To that end, I will not preview the game either. Instead, I provide you with a channel-by-channel listing of everything … [Read More]

This article has gone through two separate iterations in its lifetime already. This most recent version finalizes the condition of Ohio State by analyzing their final Public Infractions Reports, and looking at the final penalties handed down by the NCAA. I also add one more school, Michigan, as yet another example of the NCAA’s methods and mentalities. You’ll still find the original article here if you so desire.

This article will continue to be updated as a few more investigations pan out. We’re still waiting on the North Carolina Public Infractions Report, which should be out soon. LSU may have another Notice of Allegations coming, and we’re just waiting on Oregon’s NOA before adding them to the mix.

There’s also the possibility that Penn State will get an NOA up here considering the letter sent them by the NCAA after the Sandusky issue dropped. As unfortunate of a situation as … [Read More]

After a lackluster performance against Wright State, and a much improved performance against Florida, there are two things that stand out about this team. First, its obvious that the youth is coming into a play a little considering the defensive lapses and occasional mistakes committed by the team in both games. Secondly, though, this team is learning, and they’re doing it quickly too. Against Florida, we already saw the Buckeyes make immense improvements in their play. Having a more difficult early season schedule … [Read More]
