OSU Wins Blowout Over Wright State 82-52

While Buckeye Nation was still celebrating the football team’s big win over Michigan, the #16 Ohio State women’s basketball team had to get back to work as they took on Wright State today. Center Ashley Adams returned to the starting lineup today despite practicing sparingly since a quadriceps injury forced her to miss OSU’s game against St. Francis on Tuesday. Adams wasn’t the only Buckeye returning from injury as freshman guard Cait Craft was finally cleared to play after suffering a concussion in practice before the season started.

Ohio State got off to a fast start as Raven Ferguson hit a three-pointer on the first trip down the floor, keying a 9 to 0 Buckeye run to start the game. Ohio State Cruises Past Wright State 73-42

Wright State visited Columbus tonight for this season’s Buckeye home opener but left with their first loss of the season, falling to OSU 73-42. The Buckeyes started out slowly before finally gaining momentum late in the first half and never again relinquishing control of the game. Jared Sullinger lead all scorers with 19 points, and very nearly notched his first double-double of the season with 9 rebounds. William Buford and Aaron Craft joined Sullinger in double figures with 13 and 10 points respectively.

Matta chose to run the same starting lineup that he had last week, using Craft, Smith Jr, and Buford in the backcourt, and Thomas and Sullinger in the frontcourt. The team came out attacking on both ends of the court with high energy. Welcome to today’s liveblog!

It’s a special day today in College Basketball land. Not only is it the opening day of Buckeye Men’s Basketball, but it’s also the inaugural Carrier Classic game being played on the deck of the USS Carl Vinson. Given that we’re crazed Basketball fans (nearly as much as we’re crazed football fans) we couldn’t help but liveblog the Carrier Classic as well!

To that end, the liveblog will start at 7pm watching the MSU/UNC game on ESPN, and move over to the BTN for the coverage of OSU’s home opener against Wright State!
