Around the Diamond: 3.31-4.6 Recap

Another week of action on the diamond is in the books and neither the Ohio State Baseball nor the Softball team could escape it with winning records.  The baseball Bucks picked up a pair of wins at home, one against Ohio and one against Toledo, before traveling to Lincoln and getting swept by Nebraska.  On the ladies side, the softball team traveled to Ann Arbor and left by getting swept by the 5th ranked Wolverines. Let’s take a look at the games:

Softball

4/5: OSU 0, Michigan 1

Ohio State fought hard against the 5th ranked team in the country but fell short in a 1-0 loss to Michigan.  The Wolverines scratched out a run in the bottom of the 1st against Buckeye started Olivia O’Reilly and that proved to be the winning run.  O’Reilly pitched very well and held the potent Michigan offense to just 5 hits.  The Buckeyes, however, were only able to muster 2 hits of their own.

4/6 Game One: OSU 0, Michigan 10 (5 innings)

After escaping the opener with a one run victory, Michigan took game two of the series by trouncing the Buckeyes 10-0.  While the Ohio State offense struggled with only 3 hits, the Wolverines bashed out 10 hits.  All the damage was done in 4th and 5th innings as Michigan tallied 3 runs in the 4th before finishing off the Bucks with 7 in the 5th.  Olivia O’Reilly took the loss after giving up 4 earned runs off 7 hits in 4 and 1/3 innings pitched.
